When Love Waits #Spotlight on Melanie Macek

I want to give Virginia a HUGE shout out and Thank You for letting me hang out on her blog today. I'm super excited to be here and to talk with all of her readers.

When Love Waits.

WLW final ebookRGBI still consider this book my baby. It took me 14 years to write and another two years to work up the courage to let anyone read, let alone attempt to publish. This is the second anniversary of the book and I've revamped the cover and made a few minor changes in the text. They were things I should have done to begin with, but I was a new author absolutely adamant about not changing my vision. Well, it's changed...slightly. So, what is this book all about?

Here's the short description.

Emma Alexander has been living in San Diego the past eight years building her career. She’s only been home once during that time.

When she rushes home to deal with a family tragedy, she discovers small towns have long memories. Circumstances force her to deal with the reason she stayed away so long. Now she must decide between the life she left behind and the one she’s secretly yearned for.

Jack McElroy has been in love with Emma since they met their freshman year of college. The last four years of living in San Francisco have been torturous for him, being away from her.

When her promotion moves her north, fear of ruining their friendship tempers his desire to show her how he truly feels. Will he be able to profess his love for her or will her ex-fiancé beat him to the punch?

Sound intriguing? (I hope it does!) Well, I'll include a little teaser section for you then. Can't have it said that I didn't leave the public wanting ;)

Excerpt:

Emma picked up an old book, set it back down and picked up another before answering. "To me, he might as well be family. Besides you, he's the best friend I've ever had. Kyle sure wouldn't have let me have a male best friend when we dated."

Cailyn laughed. “I can't blame him, especially if that friend looked like Jack. You know he's still got feelings for you."

"Kyle? Yeah, disdain. That much is obvious."

"No, Jack."

She almost dropped the book she held. "Jack? What are you talking about?"

She watched her friend walk away and down another aisle without answering. Following, she had to jog down the short space to catch up.

"What did you mean Jack still has feelings for me?"

Cailyn shook her head. "If you can't tell, I'm not going to point it out to you. Just watch him tomorrow when you're with him. I bet anything he spends half of the day finding ways to touch you."

"That's really nothing new. We hug and hold hands all the time."

"And you've never noticed anything out of the ordinary when you do?"

"No."

They walked back out into the winter daylight, squinting against the blinding sun. Cailyn waited until they were back in the car before saying anything.

"Just pay attention on your visit tomorrow."

I have to say, Emma and Jack are two of my favorite characters. I was lucky enough when writing the story to get in contact with a NFL player who gave the complete rundown of what a player does and is expected to do during the season. I have even more respect for those who dedicate their time to becoming a better player. I couldn't believe what the players endured during the week. It helped me give Jack a bit more depth.

Right now the books are available at the following retailers. iBooks and print versions will be available soon (if they're not by the time this post goes live).Barnes and Noble Kobo books Inktera Google Play Amazon

cropped-image-1161.jpgAbout the Author: Melanie Macek is a transplanted Californian desert rat living in Texas. She and her husband are owned by two Bombay cats - Murphy (Smurph) and Charlie (Midget). Luckily her husband shares her love of travel and they are slowly checking off destinations. Many vacations have turned into story ideas. Vacation ideas are welcome!

After trying her hand at poetry, song writing, and short stories, she started writing her first novel after the death of her mother. The urge to commit words to paper became undeniable, though life and work frequently put it on the back burner. It took 14 years to complete that first novel and another 4 to edit and fine tune it enough to release. Melanie currently writes contemporary romance but would love to eventually write historical romances. Her love of history does show up somewhat in her contemporary novels, so keep an eye out for tiny tidbits of trivia.
