*sighs* I love the heroes in Heather Long's military romances, the Always a Marine Series from Decadent. Although I haven't written a military hero, or a firefighter, I recently wrote a police officer. Since my dad was a cop, that story was close to my heart.
But the hero I want to talk about today isn't like any of these. Sometimes your hero is your best friend. In The Accidental Pirate, Jamie steals a necklace and is stuck in foreign waters with no way home. Having dug a hole she isn't sure how to get out of she turns to her best gal pal, Bette, for help.
In my real life, my best friend has helped me get out of quite a few scrapes and my other gal pals often find themselves playing hero (for some reason, it always seems to be at 2am...)
I liked reflecting that in this story. Because, girls, we all know that men are wonderful and make excellent heroes...
But when life throws you lemons like they are the balls in some universal dodge ball game, and you are losing, our friends are the ones who help us cut up those lemons and do tequila shots with them.
So, my hero blog isn't dedicated to a gorgeous hunk of man. It's dedicated to friendship.
Blurb:
Hangover, check. Ship, check. Hot babe, check.
Sterling McCabe woke to a lovely lady pirate stealing his ship. What he didn't plan on was the assault she'd make on his heart.
Jamie Ashley stumbled over a priceless necklace. What she didn't plan on was stealing the very sexy Sterling McCabe's ship in a mad dash for American waters.
Constantly battling their attraction, Jamie and Sterling are in for a rough ride. Jamie yearns for the affection of the beguiling Sterling while McCabe is desperate to slake the raw desire for his little pirate.
Boat chases, wild friends and a sea tempest create the perfect storm of sexual tension...

To say I'm a little overwhelmed with the sheer size of this blog hop would be an understatement. To quote an old truism: So many books, so little time!
ReplyDeleteSadly, my best girl friends are all either dead or married, but that's how it goes, as the years roll by. Gosh, I wish you much success with everything.
and yet another to add to my list of "you need to look about, find and read". That list is getting as long as my arm.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, I am a fast reader..

You are a new author for me. This book will be changing that very soon.

Virginia, I love how you have taken the image of a pirate and made it more suitable to contemporary tastes. Sterling and Jamie's love sounds exciting and refreshing. I'm used to crass characters like Tyrone Power's portrayal of a pirate in the 1942 movie "The Black Swan." I love what you have done with Sterling. Kudos to you for being a forward thinking writer, I love it.
